Tourism in Al Hoceima in northern Morocco

A deep bay, pretty white houses that cascade down to the sea and across the beaches, beaches for all tastes, with white or black sand, pebbles, long or miniatures, straight or crescent moon, appointed or wild, face to hotels or hidden after a cove sheltered in a creek or lost on an island ...

Major resort on the Mediterranean coast, the town (60,000 inhabitants) is only accessible by car and a mountain road or from Chaouen (225 km) or from Melilla (180 km). Nestled on the cliffs of the Rif, overlooking the sea, Al Hoceima has no hinterland and remained long isolated from the rest of Morocco. International Airport steered the economy towards tourism; the advantages are certainly many, the vast bay in which rise three rocky islands (Spanish sovereignty, non-accessible) is surrounded by beaches, coves and cliffs. The seaside facilities, located at the bottom of the indentation of the coastline, are well protected from sudden gusts of the Mediterranean and well endowed in sports and entertainment (tennis, disco). The underwater fishing takes advantage of the variety of rocky and water clarity.

The port, meeting place and entertainment, lives to the rhythm of departures and fishing boats returns. In the evening you can follow the gaze lampara fishing: hanging from the bow of the boat, a lamp, attracts fish.

The recent Spanish architecture of this city, the white color of terrace houses incite relaxation and flanerie. The men dressed in wool bunting and women wrapped in brightly striped cottons on thick skirts and wearing a wide straw hat sell their productions to the souk which is held every Tuesday.
